This was recently transfered and is unaltered and un-EQ'd. The way you have it, is the way
the master cassettes are.

Special thanks to Joe Maloney for making this recording available.

This is for JJ and anyone else that missed out on this gem first time around. I've put this up now as I want to make sure I can finish upping this as I'm immenently waiting to go into hospital for a disc removing from my back.

JJ made a request for this show in the Newtorrent and reseed section of the forum but with joy. It was Originally shared by Homerpax, but due to a computer crash I lost the files, but fortunately had burned a hard cd copy. Consequently I've altered nothing apart from adding
this info file and some artwork. The rest is what I downloaded from Homer in february 2008. Wow I can't believe it's over three years ago.

Guys this is the daddy of all Ziggy recordings against which all others are based. It's not perfect some say it could do with some EQ, but it's by far the best Ziggy Stardust audience recording that has ever been done. So I'll leave it to you to rate the sound, but trust me this is a gem.

In my opinion this with some professional tinkering and remastering could be released officially.

Remember Bowie is a currently recording artist so support him by buying his cd's and merchandise. As stated above our thanks must go to Joe Maloney for taping this show (and others).

This is to be played at MAXIMUM Volume!!

Enjoy

Paul

sbd + aud ?? 'demuxed' from unreleased "Gongwalls" DVD

Sampled @ 48kHz
SHOULD BE RE-SAMPLED TO 44kHz FOR CD
but play it in this quality if you can (itunes will do it for instance)

2. Its The Time Of Your Life
3. Stoned Innocent Frankenstein
4. New Age Transformation Try
5. Poet For Sale
6. The Pot Head Pixies
7. Astral Alien
8. Much Too Old
9. Intros / Change The World (faded cut at end, loses maybe 5 secs. Why??)

11.Ali Baba (Missing from this set of files, boo hoo)
12.(Encore) Opium For The People

I have also included, from another source, again a video camera
99.Ali Baba Black Sheep, Have You Any Bullshit

The sound here is as captured, I think. It certainly could do with cleaning up in places where it gets peaky.
This is only shared as the official release seems to have ground to a terminal halt 3 years ago now, due to wrangling between band, film-maker & record/film label.
Better to rip it off if you can!

I got rid of some interview material that had been interspersed in the songs by Al Stokes, the film-maker. I felt it added nothing, and in fact just got in the way of the performances. Nothing of any real interest got said.
The film-makers managed to lose/scramble completely the "Ali Baba" file that they had. That's just damn careless in my book.
There is a possibility that an earlier saved copy will emerge one day

This is the third upload from the master tapes of my friend FB. This in an ultra rare show,
barely circulated, a more than decent audience recording, expecially if you consider the age
of it and the not great equipment that probably he used, but i don't know about that. Like i
said before for the others FB's tapes, please don't ask me questions i cannot replay to it....
it is just a miracle i convinced him to give to me his masters to upload over here.....the guy
is out of businness forever....

FROM A COPY OF THE MASTER 5" REELS

SOURCE:
Sennheiser 805 shotgun microphone > Uher 4000 7 1-2 ips 1/4" x 5" Reel - to - Reel > REVOX B77 w/Dolby (me) > SONY DTC 690 @ 16/32

RESTORATION AND TRANSFER BY MIKE MARTIN:
SONY DTC-690 > AUDIGY 4 (via Toslink) > AUDACITY (conversion to 16/44.1 and editing of Dropouts) > CD Wav > Flac (Level 8)

Dropouts needed to be addressed.
The recording equipment had transport issues and there would be a series of dropouts when each new reel was stared.
For the first few minutes of each tape there are gaps about every second (think 5 " reel turning once at 7 1/2 ips).
chunk chunk chunk chunk chunk chunk.
There were also dropouts throughout the tape but not as many as the beginning of each reel.
Similar issues affect many recordings from this source.
These tapes have been relegated to storage boxes all these years because of the quality issues.
The wave files have been reviewed with headphones to find the dropout gaps which were then spliced together.
Audacity is a nice wave editor and between delete and repair I removed the majority of the defects.
At this time the loudest claps between the songs were removed one clap at a time.
Some of the bumps and bruises of this tape can still be heard if you listen hard enough.
There were hundreds.
Even knowing this stuff you would likely agree that this tape sounds great for it's time.
This concert really shows how good the KINKS were back then.
Loved the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium!
Enjoy

Arthur Brown-Glastonbury (6-24-11) (FLAC)

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown - Glastonbury Spirit of '71 Stage
24 June 2011

A great performance - one of my favourites of this years festival -
from the excellent new Spirit of '71 stage.

A few minor PA crackles and minor sound alterations while trying to
keep my recorder dry on a rather wet evening - nothing serious.

A slight gap at the start of 'Fire' while Arthur attempts to get his
headgear alight!

Iron Butterfly - Goteborg 1971 (FLAC)

Iron Butterfly
Konserthuset
Goteborg, Sweden
1971-01-24
Soundboard (SQ: 10/10)

Lineage: traded CDR > Steinberg (no corrections) > Carbon-Hi-Space CDR > flac > you

Here's an Iron Butterfly soundboard from Goteborg, Sweden in A+ quality. At only two
songs, it's not complete, but they're *really* long songs. :) "In A Gadda Da Vida"
is incredible.

Setlist:
01. Butterfly Bleu (23:12)
02. In A Gadda Da Vida (24:29)
time: 47:41

Lineup
°°°°°°°°°
Doug Ingle - keys, lead vocals
Ron Bushy - drums
Lee Dorman - bass
Larry "El Rhino" Reinhart - guitar
Mike Pinera - guitar

In "Butterfly Bleu", guitarist Mike Pinera uses what he called the Magic Bag. Designed
in 1969 by Doug Forbes, who called it simply The Bag, it was worn on a strap over the
shoulder, like a wine bag, with a clear tube going to his mouth. Sound familiar? Two
years later Bob Heil would develop the Talk Box, used by Joe Walsh ("Rocky Mountain Way")
and Peter Frampton ("Do You Feel Like We Do") in 1973. They made it famous, but Iron
Butterfly and Mike Pinera did it first.

From Bassman's David Bowie page:
Wow! This is a previously unreleased Japanese concert, the third one of the rather short Aladdin Sane tour (in Japan). The sound quality is very good for being an audience tape from 1973, and it is probably complete? Buy it when you find it!

GENTLE GIANT
TORONTO, ONTARIO
CONVOCATION HALL
JAN. 24, 1975
(EXCERPT FROM SOUNDCHECK)

Here's a little tidbit for any hard core Giant collectors out there.
It's a short, four and a half minute snatch from the band's soundcheck
before their Toronto show, where they were supporting their POWER AND
THE GLORY album.

There's already a pretty decent recording of the actual concert from
that night floating around out there, but that doesn't include any of
the soundcheck. This is from a different source completely. I knew
a guy who managed to get into a couple soundchecks around that time
and he managed to grab this little gem on one of those occasions. So
I got this direct from that taper.

There are no vocals on here and the band does plenty of the typical
noodling around you'd expect at a soundcheck. But you can recognize a
little of the song So Sincere. The highlight, however, is a small
portion of No God's a Man, a tune they never played in concert. Maybe
they were considering it?

One sad bit - the encore of Mister Class and Quality is missing. The master tape got damaged

The Kinks
October 18, 1969 Early and Late shows
Fillmore East

This recording seems to be rather rare. The audience quality is not very good compared to modern standards but I find it listenable, especially since there's not much live 1969 Kinks that circulates. Please check the samples to get an idea of the sound quality for yourself.

Note: A ticket stub scan that I found online is included with the download. The Kinks were the middle act (with headliners Spirit and openers The Bonzo Dog Band) at The Fillmore East on October 17 & 18, 1969. Ray makes a comment when introducing the band that John Dalton on bass had just joined the band "yesterday morning".

Amon Duul II - Live at Sundown, Brixton, UK, June 1972 (remixed & remastered)

A typical example of a 1972-concert for Amon Duul 2. The Band is playing good and straight through their repertoire, and
sound is not too bad. The Improvisation is a real masterpiece of Rogners little electronics and the wild guitar tunes.
The bonus track, is an performance of the opener Archangels thunderbird, unknown venue.

Kevin Ayers - Old Grey Whistle Test 1973-06-12 (DVD)

I was going through all these posts of Kevin Ayers nadir_53 has been so kindly putting up, and I noticed I have footage of a part of the unreleased TV shows,
the Old Grey Whistle Test from June 12th, 1973. I got it in the same trade with the French TV shows I uploaded recently. The version I have does not
seem to come from the broadcast, as it has a time code (a bit annoying, as it shows a lot of the time on Kevin's forehead - please check the caps), and
the picture and sound quality's quite good. I hope you enjoy it.

Frank Zappa - The New Year's Eve Tape

Frank Zappa - "The New Year's Eve Tape" broadcast 1974-12-31 (aka "The UN concert"(various sources from 1973 mixed by FZ))

Without them, this torrent might have never seen the light of day. PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT the 1974-12-31 New Year's Eve concert! It's a reel of material passed by Frank Zappa to various radio stations, consisting of 1973 concerts.

This is perhaps the only available source for this material in this form. What's in here is the Zappa New Year's Eve concert broadcast on WLIR-FM in Garden City, New York on December 31, 1974. This was taken off-the-air on a twin push-button Realistic reel-to-reel at 7.5ips as it happened. My friend Steve and I had tried to go from our Long Island homes into Times Square in New York City, but it just didn't happen due to the bad weather. We each bought a bottle of Beaujolais instead, returned to my room, and nearly spit up the wine laughing at this show. Parts of it are still funny enough today to split your sides.

Setlist (run time 53m 07s)

Announcer Introduction
Zappa's Introduction aka "Tango Chat"(Wayne, New Jersey 1973-11-11)
Pygmy Twylyte/Dummy Up (W/Coffee, unknown date/Location)
Be-Bop Tango Excerpt (unknown date/location)
The Story of Dupree's Paradise (NYC, NY 1973-11-22, late show)
Yellow Snow Suite (Sydney, Australia 1973-06-24)
Guitar Event(Lowell, Massachusetts 1973-11-30)
Bebop Tango Contest (Waterloo, Canada 1973-11-18)
Announcer's Closing Remarks

Technical notes: The Realistic deck was notorious for engaging with the buttons not completely depressed. After the commercial break, one side wasn't pushed in properly and the sound became distorted until the problem was noticed and the button was pounded in on the fly. During this portion, the distorted side was deleted and the good side was copied over. So a part of it is in mono.

Lineage: Transfer to wav 2008-10-13 ->Sound Forge ->FLAC via TLH, level 6, sectors aligned and verified, FLAC integrity checked.

Enjoy!
