Tracks 1-2 are live in London 1968. "Oh, in the Sky" is Roy Estrada singing a Ruben-esque tune. Track 2 has been officially released as tracks 16-20 of Ahead of Their Time, though there are some edits on the official album.

Tracks 3-6 are as on Our Man in Nirvana (Fullerton, 11-Aug-1968).

Tracks 7-8 are identified as live in Bremen 1968. They are listed as "Let's Make the Water Turn Black" and "Uncle Bernie's Farm" but do not actually represent these songs. Track 7 is the "String Quartet" (the instrumental medley of "Pound for a Brown" and "Sleeping in a Jar" with jamming), and track 8 is an "extremely slow instrumental". If they are indeed from Bremen, they are from the show that was televised in Germany as Lieder Liches.

Sound Quality: (B) I believe that this is a 2nd gen tape.

This is an interesting, if not pretty raw, audience tape, recorded during the first
day of the two-day San Francisco International Pop Festival. It does not make
for the best listening, because many of the tracks are mere fragments of songs
and the taper speaks throughout.

Nevertheless, I am thankful to whoever taped these performances, because it
is a small, but important document of a fascinating time and place. To be sure,
despite its flaws, it is a good sounding recording for its time. Further, it is
interesting because few studio recordings of Rejoice and The Everpresent Fullness
exist, let alone live tapes. Mad River is likewise underrepresented in tape trade
circles. And, finally, the Lee Michaels track, a mere one minute or so, is to my
knowledge the oldest live recording that exists of his work. The best preserved
tracks are from Iron Butterfly and Jose Feliciano, so this tape would certainly be
of interest to their fans. Please let me know the names of the songs.

While researching this upload, I found a Billboard Magazine article from
26 Oct 1968, in which the writer claims that this entire two-day festival was
being officially recorded by "McCune Sound Co. of San Francisco" and that the
festival's organizers planned a release of the music. To my knowledge an album
never came of this (though there was an album released called S.F. Int. Pop Festival,
I don't believe it had anything to do with this festival). Does anyone know
if soundboards exist?

40 years after the last Pink Floyd studio session for the BBC, Harvested is proud to present this upgraded version of "BBC Archives 1967-1969".

This release required a lot of work and took more than 6 months to complete. The purpose was to present each track in the best possible quality. The process was long because it was performed on a track by track basis. For each song, we had to compare many different sources in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each version and then decide which one(s) to work on. The mastering work was done very carefully, trying to repair every flaw that could be corrected... and there were a lot (tape warble, crackles, drop-outs, incorrect speed, etc).

Instead of giving all the details for each single track (we want to avoid sterile debates about lineage and sources), we prefer the results to speak for itself. We think people should judge by their ears; listen to your sonically-preferred versions and compare them to the ones on this new Harvested release. We can confidently say that every track is - sonically speaking - an upgrade compared to the best previously circulating version, including the master transfer of the 25Jun68 session (which offered complete versions but from a damaged mastertape) and the recent Celestial Voices tracks from the 12May69 session.

We made the choice not to include the various DJ intros in order to focus on the music. There are some exceptions such as Reaction In G and Set The Controls from the 25Sep67 session, but for the remainder the DJ comments were considered too distracting and so we edited them out (e.g. the Tomorrow's World tracks). Also, it's important to note that all tracks are presented in true mono, the way they were mixed by the BBC (there's no "fake stereo" nor "sound expanding" effect).

This collection not only includes the sessions for BBC radio, but also studio sessions for BBC TV shows and documentaries making it more complete than the previous releases. The number of tracks is now 30; 14 are covering the 1967 sessions with Syd (on CD 1) and 16 are dedicated to the 1968-1969 era with David (on CD 2).

A pretty enjoyable take on Abbey Road. It contains "Blossom Toes" Brian Godding. I personally find Kate Westbrooks voice horrendously annoying. But others may like it.

It was broadcast by a jazz programme, but it includes everything from psychedelia, progressive rock, avantgarde music, improvisation... as you would expect from founding members of Soft Machine, Gong, Henry Cow, Art Bears... and apparently the name of the group is coming off a Sun Ra tune. It is made of two suites (that I divided in smaller fragments) where new and old themes from Allen and Softs constantly merge in some sort of disturbed space rock with glissando guitar.
