This release is sourced from a cassette tape that I got in trade many years ago from a fellow trader / taper in England. It's an audience recording. This is from John Weather’s first tour with the band, when they opened for a Jimi Hendrix film, Jimi Plays Berkeley. it’s also the only known tape to include the song Schooldays.

Frank Zappa-Paris (December 15, 1970) (FLAC)

Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention
Palais Gaumont
Paris, France
1970 12 15

~~ From 3rd gen soundboard recording ~~

An upgrade to our current version, and possibly the lowest generation available. Here's what my source, LC, told me about it:
"The board of the MOI at Gaumont Palace, Paris, 12/15/70 originated from the KSAN FM tape archive. A friend had access to their tape library and ran a copy. I’m relatively certain that is how that board surfaced."

The tape suffers from some drop-outs, especially the first minutes. I experimented with removing them, but decided to leave them as they were.

FZShows entry:

1970 12 15 - Palais Gaumont, Paris, France
105 min, SBD, A+
With Jean Luc Ponty on violin (*). Parts of this concert are available as pro-shot video and on Disconnected Synapses - BTB2.
Call Any Vegetable, The Sanzini Brothers, Penis Dimension, A Pound For A Brown, Sleeping In A Jar, Porko The Magnificent (incl. There's No Business Like Show Business, I Can't Give You Anything But Love), Sharleena, improvisations (incl. La Marseillaise), The Air, Dog Breath, Mother People, You Didn't Try To Call Me, King Kong* (incl Ain't She Sweet?, Blue Danube, and Suite: Judy Blue Eyes), Who Are The Brain Police?*

This version: 107:29 min, SBD, A+/A (mono)

The Band:
Manfred Mann - keyboards ,voc.
Colin Pattenden - bass
Mick Rodgers - guitar,voc.
Chris Slade - drums

One of my earliest off air radio recordings.
KMET-FM Live broadcasts every Saturday night from the BBC transcription discs.
This is from the original 1974 airing of this show in Los Angeles.
Lots of clean up needed for this one.
Many Pops and Crackles from the transcription disc were repaired.
I could not get it all so some surface noise still remains.
A few audio stream breaks were spliced back together (I think they came from my DAT).
Audacity was used to do this editing and to re-sample at 44.1 kHz.
Overall this tape has good stereo seperation and a minimum of hiss.
Classic BBC Radio.

Bonzo Dog Band - Do Not Adjust Your Set (FLAC)

Bonzo Dog Band - Do Not Adjust Your Set 1968/1969 (FLAC)

Do Not Adjust Your Set (DNAYS) was a British children's television series produced by Rediffusion from December 1967 to May 1969 in which the Bonzo Dog (Doo Dah) Band performed one or more songs what gained them a big cult following in the UK.

This audio collection from these shows is compiled from several sources. The bulk of the songs here are a straight rip from the 2005 DVD release (a MUST for every Bonzo's/Monty Python fan!!) which contains nine of the surviving programmes. Other tracks are sourced from the very rare Seventies vinyl bootleg album 'Loose Caboose' and a few are from that other essential Bonzo's release the double DVD-set 'Talking Pictures'. The overall quality is very good to excellent although some tracks leave something to be desired because they where sourced from scratchy vinyl. The last three tracks are taken from the 1967 Granada TV-show 'New Faces' and fit in nicely with the rest of this compilation. Hope you like it.

Track listing
01 Monster Mash
02 The Equestrian Statue
03 Hello Mabel
04 Brief
05 Look Out There's Monster Coming
06 Hunting Tigers Out In Indiah
07 I'm The Urban Spaceman
08 Love Is A Cyndrical Piano
09 The Intro And The Outro
10 Beautiful Zelda
11 Tubas In The Moonlight
12 By A Waterfall
13 Metaphorically Speaking
14 Death Cab For Cutie
15 The Sound Of Music
16 Mr Apollo (Excerpt)
17 Ready-Mades
18 Shirt
19 Da Story Of Da Bonzo's Itself (The Bride Stripped Bare)
20 The End Of the Show (Granada TV, New Faces 1967)
21 The Equestrian Statue (Granada TV, New Faces 1967)
22 Little Sir Echo (Granada TV, New Faces 1967)

Running time: 49:20

Sources:
Tracks 01-06, 08-11, 13-15 from 'Do Not Adjust Your Set' 2005 DVD.
Track 7 'Talking Pictures' DVD.
Track 12 Christmas Special 'Do Not Adjust Your Stocking'.
Track 16 'Inside The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band' 2005 DVD.
Tracks 17-19 'Loose Caboose' vinyl album.
Tracks 20-22 'New Faces' Granada TV 1967.

About Do Not Adjust Your Set
Do Not Adjust Your Set took its name from the message which was displayed when there was a problem with transmission. Although the show was originally conceived as a children's programme, it quickly acquired a cult crossover following amongst many adults. The programme comprised a series of sketches, often bizarre and surreal, frequently satirical with a disjointed style which was to become more famous in the more daring Monty Python's Flying Circus, which followed five months later.

Many of it's actors and comedians later became famous, such as Denise Coffey and David Jason. Contributers Michael Palin, Terry Jones and Eric Idle became, together with John Cleese and Graham Chapman, part of the hugely successful Monty Python's Flying Circus.

The first series of 'Do Not Adjust Your Set' ran from January 4th until March 28th, 1968, with the fourth winning first prize at the Prix Jeunesse international TV festival. A new series was scheduled for the following February 1969. The second series would prove to be the last of this higly influental TV-series.

All my own rips, sorry no artwork.

Have fun! BeatleV!

NOTES
This recording is one of the best early live Status Quo recordings, both quality and performance. The show was specially recorded for broadcast on Swedish Radio, a recording from the radio, usually in MP3, with DJ introduction at the beginning is quite common. This is not from the radio but taken from the Pre FM Soundboard, radio station master reels. An official CD release of this was going to be released back in the 1990’s but was cancelled by the band, they were not happy with the performance. I got as far as ordering a copy of this CD from a mail order company, only for a letter to drop through my door just after the release date stating “The Release Of This CD Has been Cancelled – It Is Highly Unlikely It will Be Released Any Time In The future.” Disappointment or what. Years later I found the MP3 then recently I found this, the real thing. I’ve made some artwork to go with this torrent as the only artwork I could find for this date was crap. This is vintage Quo at its best, even if the band themselves did not like it. Enjoy

Captain Beefheart-Vancouver (9-17-1971) (FLAC)

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART 1971-09-17
Jasper Place Arena - Vancouver, BC
24Bit Transfer

Captain Beefheart: vocals, tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, harmonica
John "Drumbo" French: drums
Zoot Horn Rollo: guitar
Art Tripp III: marimba
Rockette Morton: bass guitar, guitar
Elliot Ingber: guitar, slide guitar

Low Gen Maxell XLII cassette > Tascam Professional Cassette Deck Model 130 analog out > Apogee
Mini-Me @ 24/48 Hz spdif out > Digigram VX Pocket V2 (in data mode = no resampling of bits) > Samplitude
Professional 8 @ 24/48 Hz > resampled to 16/44.1 Hz w/ Samplitude > FLAC Frontend Encode level 6

No EQ or hiss reduction has been used. Only minor edits and fades to remove tape flip clicks and crowd noise.
Please Note:
I reduced the frequency 15,738 Hz by -16.0db because it was extreme tape hiss. The frequency 15,738Hz still exists, but it was minimized to an acceptable listening level.

Very rough, but instruments come through pretty good. One of my favorite versions of "When Big Joan Sets Up" is here! Even though the vocals are almost inaudible.

1. Drums/Soundcheck
2. Alice in Blunderland
3. When Big Joan Sets Up
4. Hair Pie Bake II (bass solo)
5. Black Snake Blues
6. Steal Softly Thru Snow
7. Hair Pie Bake II
